Moira receives 2009 ANZAC Award

The RSL National President, Major General Bill Crews AO, yesterday announced the recipients of the 2009 ANZAC of the Year award. Moira was one of four Australians to receive this award that recognises ‘the efforts and achievements of up to seven Australians who have given service to their fellow Australians and to the community in a positive, selfless and compassionate manner’.

Moira received the Award “in recognition of her devotion and dedication over many years in providing social support and service for disadvantaged people’.

On behalf of the RSL National Executive and Members, Major General Crews AO (Retd) has extended his congratulations to Moira and the other Award recipients.

Moira joins two other Children First Foundation Awardees; Geoff McIlvenna and Bernie Lamers, who both received this Award in 2002.

Our Woman of Achievement
Margaret Smith, the Foundation’s CEO, was one of four finalists in the prestigious BrainLink “2008 Women of Achievement” Award. The award recognises women who hold multi dimensional roles in the community. At a lunch of around 400 guests at the Park Hyatt in Melbourne, women who were ‘silent achievers’ and who had outstanding outcomes in an area not often recognised by business women’s awards, were celebrated.

Congratulations to Margaret who has overseen the growth of the Foundation and its capacity to help disadvantaged children in Australia and overseas.
